Sauna Startup Guide

Scandia 40K BTU Propane Gas Sauna Stove

Welcome. This guide will walk you through how to safely start and operate the sauna. Please read fully before use.

Before You Begin

  • Use the sauna responsibly and listen to your body

  • Stay hydrated

  • Never leave the sauna unattended while heating

  • Children must be supervised at all times

If anything feels unclear, stop and contact us for support.

Step 1: Open the Propane Supply

  1. Locate the propane tanks in the front housing of the trailer.

  2. Open one propane tank by turning the valve fully counterclockwise.

  3. Check the regulator:

    • The directional switch must be pointing toward the open tank

    • A green bar on the regulator indicates gas is flowing properly

  4. You can view each tank’s remaining capacity on the top dial of the tank.

Fuel Notes

  • Each tank provides approximately 10–12 hours of sauna use

  • Two tanks are sufficient for multiple days of normal sauna operation

Step 2: Power On the Stove (Rear of Sauna)

  1. Move to the back of the sauna where the stove controls are located.

  2. Turn the Timer Dial clockwise to activate the system.

  3. Set the Thermostat Dial to somewhere between 5 and 8. Does not go past 8, can be turned down later.

Once activated:

  • The CPU will engage the piezo starter

  • You should hear a clicking sound

  • The pilot light will ignite after 60–90 seconds on a cold start

⚠️ If the pilot does not ignite after 90 seconds, turn the dials off, wait a few minutes, and try again.

Step 3: Heating the Sauna

  • After ignition, allow 30–40 minutes for the sauna to reach operating temperature

  • The sauna will heat gradually and evenly

  • Typical sauna temperatures range up to ~190°F

Step 4: During Your Sauna Session

  • The Timer Dial must be manually advanced to keep the stove running

  • Continue adding time as needed for the duration of your session

  • If the timer expires the pilot of the stove will have to be relit but the CPU will handle that simply by turning the dials again.

Shutting Down the Sauna

  1. Allow the Timer Dial to run out or turn it to OFF

  2. Close the propane tank valve when finished

  3. Let the stove cool, make sure vents in sauna are open.

If You Experience Issues

  • No ignition:

    1. Gas could be Low or Empty: check propane valve, regulator direction, and green indicator
    2. Batteries of the CPU could be dead: In the back stove area behind the low metal door there are 2 D batteries. They may need to be replaced with some new batteries located next to the First Aid Kit in the Front Housing

  • Weak heat: confirm thermostat setting and remaining propane

  • If problems persist, stop use and contact us

Safe Sauna Use – Do & Do Not

  • Sit or lie comfortably

  • Take breaks as needed

  • Drink water regularly

  • Step outside to cool down between rounds

  • Block ventilation for extended periods of time

  • Use the sauna under the influence of alcohol or substances

Final Note
